A. The most important issue to me is the economy. I want to see lower taxes, but I want that to be done by lowering federal expenditures. Giving me a tax break while raising the deficit is just taking a loan that will have to be paid off by the next generation. And since I still expect to be alive when the next generation grows up, that means me. No more loans. Unfortunately, no mainstream candidate can ever campaign on cutting the federal budget. The largest items in the federal budget are Social Security, Defense, and Medicare/Medicaid. Touch a single dollar of those and watch people scream. I think that all three can be cut in a variety of ways, but even speaking about them is death for a political candidate. The economy is about… [cont.]
