Q. My computer has had a trojan virus for a while and the only thing i can think of because i know nothing about computers is getting a new tower which i really dont want to have to spend money on..any way to get it off?

A. Hello, Instead of that, Try 1. Antivirus software to remove the virus. Search for google for removal of virus for the virus name you have in your system. 2. If you cant get antivirus or for any reason cannot do the above, simply get the Hard disk formatted instead of buying a new tower. Formatting the hard disk will remove the virus if its not very very harmful virus which attacke\s hard disk boot sectors also. regards skpshah

Can connecting another computer to my network influence the connections of the other computers?
Q. I had two computers both connected to a wireless router. Yesterday I connected a third computer to the network and, although the connection goes through for this new computer, one of the original computers now says "Limited or no connectivity" and cannot connect to the Internet. Is it possible that the new computer is using up too much bandwidth and is therefore preventing the other computer from accessing the Internet?

How many computers can I have hooked up to my high speed internet?
Q. I have high speed internet through my phone company (zoomtown) I just bought a new computer and am giving my old computer to my brother. How to I hook both computers to the internet. Do I need to get another box for the old computer from the phone company, or do I need to to set up a wireless network on my own?

A. You can connect as many computers as you want. The "box" you refer to is the high-speed modem. That's the device that is directly connected to your ISP, and is the ONLY device directly connected. This modem is called your "gateway" to the internet. When you connect a single computer to the internet, you use an ethernet cable to connect your computer to the modem, which has a single ethernet port. However, if you have more than one computer, you can plug what's called a "hub" to the modem instead, and then plug your computers into the hub. Most hubs have 4 ports, but you can get them with 6 or 10, and even more if you look around. If you have more computers than you have ports, you can plug another hub into the first hub. This is… [cont.]

A. hi, First of all let me tell you one thing that before microsoft there was very little scope for personal computers and softwares related to those computers. Still there were some softwares and software building programming languages. FORTRAN or formula translation, the first high level programming language, was invented by John Backus for IBM, in 1954, and released commercially, in 1957. It is still used today for programming scientific and mathematical applications. Fortran began as a digital code interpreter for the IBM 701 and was originally named Speedcoding. John Backus wanted a programming language closer to human language, which is the definition of a high level language. At that time the softwares available were Aldus Pagemaker,… [cont.]

How to connect 2 computers to the internet?
Q. I have got 1 computer which is connected to the internet using a virgin media modem. But i recently bought a new computer and i want to connect that to the internet aswell. A. Odds are you probably don't need to install the CD on the 2nd computer. I'm assuming you are using DHCP, which simply means letting the wireless router send the IP addresses, etc. to the computers on your lan automatically. You've probably already done this but I'll mention it just in case so we have a complete picture. Your wireless router is now connected to your ISP's modem, and your 2 computers are connected to that. Now, 1 of the computers is connecting fine but the other wasn't able to install the CD so it's not, yes..? I'd try going to the Control Panel on the machine that isn't connecting and try the Windows Wizard to try and create a new internet connection. Just tell it to automatically get the settings from the wireless… [cont.]

How to set up a computer network for three computers?
Q. We have 3 computers at work and are trying to connect them all together so that one can be the main server and the other two can dump files into it. It is okay if they are all open because we are on a secure network. As long as we can dump files into each others computers. One of the computers is running Vista and the other two are running XP. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Asked by Nick S - Wed Feb 18 11:42:34 2009 - - 3 Answers - 1 Comments
A. They are only secure if NONE of them have Internet access. If this is so then the inexpensive, and very secure way is to network them together using network cables joining at a "Hub"(simply put - a dumb router) or a router. The router is easier, but if it has wireless, you will have to disable it(wireless) to prevent access from others. You may have to take some time to configure firewall and or antivirus software to allow access to all PC's on the network. You can actually turn off all firewall software since you will have a secure network. But I would advise leaving Anti-Virus running.(it can also prevent network access)

A. ok this is easy enough... first just plug em into eachother, make sure the lights come on when you plug em in... then go to network connections, right click on the blank screen within the window and click on properties... then you should be able to find your network connections somwhere... this may have been on the left in the little navigation tab depending on your version of windows anyways once you find it right click on your local area connection and click properties again, in there scroll down to TCP/IP, if there are two (v4 and v6 then go to v4) once you have clicked that click on properties again and then set your IP on one computer to 192.168.0.1 and the other computer to 192.168.0.2 and set your subnet address to 255.255.255.0 on… [cont.]

A. VPN tunnel from network A to network B. Then enable file sharing on the drives or directories you want shared. you most likely will not need any additional hardware. Simply open the ports on your routers, choose a VPN application and you should be able to do this with no problem.

How to limit internet speed to specific computers on a network?
Q. My household network consists of a router and 3 other computers connected to it. If I wanted to limit the download speed of a certain computer, what should I do? I can completely remove access to a computer in the router settings, but I only want to remove the power to Bit torrent for that computer.
Asked by Tommy K - Wed Apr 25 02:36:04 2007 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Okay. to do such a thing you would need a higher class router. You are looking into very advanced interfaces to do such a thing, and routers that can do that. are not regular all homes routers. Another way, cheaper and free. is get utorrent. www.utorrent.com It lets you set how much "internet" or bandwidth you want the program to use. Even for uploads. So you can set it to maybe 100 kpbs for download, and 20 for upload. Doesn't affect anything but what u just told it to. Good luck

How to connect two computers to the internet with one wireless adapter?
Q. i have to computers next to each other, one has a wireless adapter for the internet and the other one does not. How would i be able to connect the computer that does not have an adapter to the one that does so that they can be both connected to the internet. I do not have a laptop.

A. This may or may not work, but it's worth a try: This requires hooking up both computers with a ethernet cable. After you connect them, go to your Network Connections and right click on your Local Area Connection and select Properties. Click the Advanced tab and you should now see a little tick box that says "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection."

How do I network music folders between 3 computers?
Q. Me and my roommates have 3 computers, 2 are connected with wireless, and the other one is plugged into the router. 2 have vista and one has XP. How can i make the music folders on each computer shared, so I can just drag songs off the other computers onto mine? I tried networking it and it always ask for a password to access the other computers. How would I do this using XP and Vista ? Thanks!

A. You can try foldershare This program syncs folders between multiple computers and whats kinda cool is that you can invite ANYONE to access your files. However, you can define what kind of access he/she has. I run an anime group with it, and of course I want my admins and contributers to have write rights, but I don't want the people who just download to have delete or change or add rights. It works rather well. You could each share your music folders with each other, or you could make one massive folder. On a side note, foldershare is a great way to share things like My Documents across multiple computers. I have 5 computers and it is nice to have all my documents on every machine. What is even cooler is that I have a remote machine… [cont.]
